GOSI (General Organization for Social Insurance) pays compensation directly to the legal heirs when an expatriate worker dies from a work-related cause in Saudi Arabia. Who Is Eligible

GOSI registration is mandatory for all workers in Saudi Arabia, but benefits for expatriates are limited to the Occupational Hazards branch only. Expatriate workers do not contribute to the Annuities (pension) branch. This means:

The Claims Process

Step 1: Employer reports the injury. The employer must report the work-related injury or death to the approved medical body or the GOSI office within three days of the incident. If the employer fails to report, document the omission and have the heirs or their authorized representative submit the claim through the GOSI channel; GOSI claims are not routed through OPF or the Pakistan Embassy.

Step 2: Heirs submit the claim. The legal heirs or their authorized representative must apply through the GOSI electronic portal. Required documents include:

• Official Saudi death certificate (Shahada Al-Wafa)

The Classification Trap
