These templates work exactly as written. Replace the bracketed text with your details, copy the result onto your card, and move on. Two or three sentences is a common guideline.

Template 1: For Flowers

"Dear [name], thank you for the beautiful [type of flowers/arrangement] you sent for [deceased's name]'s service. [It brightened the room / We placed them by the altar / They were a comfort during a very hard week]."

Template 2: For a Charitable Donation

Template 3: For Food or Meals

Template 6: For Attendance

Template 7: For Clergy or Officiants

"Dear [title and name], thank you for leading the service with such care. [Your words brought genuine comfort / You captured who they were in a way that made everyone feel closer to them]."

Template 8: For Practical Help

"Dear [name], thank you for [specific help — watching the kids, driving family to the airport, mowing the lawn]. [Having one less thing to worry about made everything else slightly more bearable / We could not have managed without you]."

How to Use These Templates

Pick the template that matches the gesture, fill in the blanks, and write it on your card. You do not need to personalize beyond what the template asks for. The recipient will not know — or care — that you used a template. They will see a handwritten card acknowledging their specific kindness, and that is all that matters.

If you are writing 50 or more cards, work through your list in priority order: pallbearers and clergy first, then flowers and donations, then food and practical help, then attendance.
